Chechneya, On speaking to Steve Lehaman who had just left Grozny. He said one thing that stayed forever in mind: "Real War." For me, this is my most rewarding body of work. At this time it was by far the most dangerous place on earth. Nothing I can say or even show with my pictures would convey the conditions the photographers had to work in.
