Meredith March, Mississippi, 1966 - A regular scene on the Meredith march: onlookers would mock the marchers, waving Confederate flags and playing the anthem "Dixie." The marchers were told to ignore the heckling. Actually it was quite amazing that no one was killed when a Klansman drove his car straight into the group - sending them diving to either side of the road.
