Tabassum rebuilds her shelter on the railway bridge. Not all mobility is upward in Bombay. Tabassum lost her house in Dharavi when her husband lost his legs in a car crash and she was forced to sell to pay his hospital bills. They have been living on the bridge for several years now; her husband has found work as a receptionist in a big building in North Bombay where he can sit all day in the booth, but his pay is low (around $17 a month) and he can come home to be with his family only once a week for a few hours. |
