Making Ganesh idols for Ganesh Chaturti, the 12 day festival dedicated to the elephant headed god. A large idol like this would cost around $120 and would most likely be bought by a resident's association with donations from all the residents of an apartment building. After a period of days in which puja (worship) is offered to the idol, it is taken to the sea for immersion.
