A nervous bronc awaits its rider at the Fourth of July Rodeo in Fort Pierre. Fabled as the oldest rodeo west of the Mississippi River and east of the Rockies, the annual event began as a rendezvous between fur traders and local Indians near the mouth of the Bad River.
