A mosque which was once the scene of a great fight between militants and the Indian army now sits undisturbed on Srinagar's Dal Lake in the troubled state of Kashmir Sunday, November 18, 2001 during the first days of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Kashmir's beauty is unmatched and once had a thriving tourism industry but because of the war, it has come to a virtual and complete halt. The war in Kashmir has been going on since 1989 when militant organizations chose to fight for secession from India and now the war in Afghanistan has made the region even more volatile.
