Sarajevans browse among books for sale spread out on

the city, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, February 1996. Sarajevo
was considered the cultural center of the former Yugoslavia, producing
many artists, writers and musicians. A cosmopolitan city of tolerance
where people of different religions lived and intermarried, it was
singled out for destruction by nationalist Serbs for this very reason.
