US Marines from the 1st Marine Division receive a direct Iraqi Army artillery hit on an amphibious assault vehicle (aav) killing at least 2 Marines and wounding 3 or 4 as they waited to cross the Nahr Biyala canal 11 miles south east of Baghdad, April 7, 2003. The south east bridge leading to Baghdad was targetted by artillery 30 kms away.
