Iraqi Shiite women spray water where hundreds of Shiite
Muslims gathered in Karbala 22 April 2003 to mark the death of Imam
Hussein, grandson of Prophet Mohammed, who was beheaded in the holy
city of Karbala, central Iraq, in 680 A.D. This is the first time
in years that Shiites are free to express their devotion to Imam Hussein
without the Sunni-dominated regime of Saddam Hussein's watchful eye
on them.
