Bobbi Three Legs rides Cisco through the underbrush bordering Oak Creek behind the Wakpala Public School. Students in the Wakpala Horse Program learn horsemanship under the direction of Jack Shillingstad, school principal and local rancher. "The kids soak this stuff up like sponges," Shillingstad says. "They're learning about their ancestors, their past, the way life was along this river long ago."
