"While I was free- lancing in post war Europe in 1949 I made among other things a whole series of pictures of the Tower, it was easy because my wife and I lived in Paris at the time. My work in Europe became part of a portfolio that was instrumental in my joining the Look staff in 1951 at the age of 25."
