Najaf is one of the holy places for Shiites Muslims. It's a place where imams Ali and Hussein and all other important imams have been buried. This is a grave of an imam that was killed in 1998 together with his two sons. This particular occasion was his birthday, and people came to pay tribute. On one side were women on the other men. Tradition is to put flowers and money on the grave and light candles.
