Well, it is that time
of year again.
For those of us working for small to mid-sized papers, the athletics
season
is coming to an end.
In Texas, University Scholastic League has recently held the
state finals
for golf, tennis and track. This month (June) we will see the
finals for
softball, and baseball will close the year out.
Most photojournalists don't get the opportunity to cover Div.
I college
sports, much less professional events. So as others continue
sports coverage
throughout the year, those of us at the smaller places get
a chance to look
back and reflect on our coverage from the past school year
.
The photos shown here are what I consider to be some the more
memorable
moments shot from this past school year.

Ahhh, the benefits of shooting the sideline features.
This is my son Brendan with the Tigers' cheerleaders after they gave
him a football during the game. Unfortunately, the 300mm lens didn't
accomodate the entire squad that gathered for the group shot.
