"Most of them just want to be heard," said a New York City cop on 8th Avenue. Protestors with and without permits to march and rally, spoke, shouted, performed, created, chanted, sang, and swore in New York the week of the Republican National Convention.

Each group seemed to have its own temperament, from civil to disobedient. We asked a handful of photographers to send their favorite photos.

"I love being on a big story," said a reporter from newsradio.

So do we.
