In 1994 I visited the former Soviet Union state of Latvia to document the changes in the country since independence in 1991. The boards in the photograph, which was taken in the capital city of Riga, are newspaper walls where the public got their daily diet of news. The walls were a throwback to the Soviet era, when they were used to educate and inform the population en masse.
