Some Maoris hark back to the tradition of tattooing and warring in the Maori culture to express their deep frustration in losing much of their original culture. Today, however, New Zealand is going through a tremendous renaissance of the tribal culture, including the revitalization of the sacred art of getting one's Moko - the Maori facial tattoo.
