Cape Flats Kids on a School Outing, St. James, Cape Town

One of the more positive aspects of post-apartheid South Africa is that most school kids don't see or perceive race and color as their parents did. Cape Town is considered to be one of the world's more desirable living environments and has a growing number of international property buyers. The Cape Flats, a large windswept plain to the east of the city, is well hidden from the multimillion-dollar properties that cling to the Atlantic seaboard, and has miles of sprawling shack housing.
