Constituents from Missouri offer condolences to Sen. Jean Carnahan (D-MO), who lost her husband, Mel Carnahan, and son, Roger, in a plane crash. Gov. Mel Carnahan died two weeks before he was elected to the U.S. Senate, and Jean Carnahan, one of her husband's closest advisers, filled his Senate seat for two years before she was defeated in the 2002 election.
