"No Place for Children: Voices From Juvenile Detention"

RENE

In an isolation cell, detention officer Leo De la Garza searches for a sharp object, which he feared Rene might use to kill himself.

"I have seen all types of drugs. All types of drugs."

Rene, 15, has transported drugs, too. But mainly he has used them - marijuana, coke, heroin, and pills. It's the pills, rochas, that triggered the latest fight with his parents. Rene swung for his mom but ended up giving his dad a black eye. With nowhere else to detox, he ended up in Juvenile.
