ESCAPE TO THE CITY John Levy's story started in his early '20s when he was arrested for armed robbery and sent to the state pen at Angola. When he was released less than a year ago, he vowed to straighten his life out, keep quiet and stay out of trouble. When military demanded at gunpoint that he board a truck to evacuate the flooded city, he complied. But when he arrived at the airport, he "escaped" when no one was looking. "It seemed like I was in prison again," he said. He walked back to his tiny, one-room apartment in mid-city and became one of the lost souls.
