METULA, ISRAEL: The Lebanese village of Kila, across the border from Metula, Israel, received heavy bombardment from Israeli artillery and aircraft after Israeli forces came under rocket fire near the border. Israel reserved the right to continue air strikes if its forces were threatened, despite an agreed upon 48-hour pause in aerial attacks. Photographed on July 31, 2006.
