Southeast of Afghanistan. Konar River. 1985: Russian soldiers are getting closer and closer. Running away from the fighting, men, women, children and Mudjahiddins have to progress rapidly on roads made of natural obstacles. Small ships are popular. In the exodus, some die, drown or are stampeded. Others succeed in getting on the boats. Sometimes Russian helicopters spot the all-too-easy targets in the middle of the river.
