TEMPLE OF TEARS – Engulfed in a whiteout, this 2001 temple was built by David Best and crew. Burners were given pencils so they could write messages or comments on the wood pieces provided, and on Sunday night the temple was burned. In 2005, with the support of the San Francisco Arts Commission and the Black Rock Arts Foundation (nonprofit arm of Burning Man), Best built a similar but smaller temple at Hayes Green (a small urban park) in San Francisco.
