Reviving traditions after generations of being cut off from India, Trinidadians of Indian origin give thanks to Lord Shiva for food, water, and shelter in a celebration called "Ganga Dhara" in a shallow stretch of the Marianne River. The thanksgiving ritual mirrors rites on the banks of the Ganges, "Ganga" in Hindi, holiest of all rivers in India.
