A portrait of the Canadian artist Christopher Pratt in his studio in Newfoundland, 1971. The afternoon I spent with Pratt in his studio changed my life as a photographer. I was inspired by the example of his life and by his rigorous art. I recognized in his work a similarity to the way that I saw and wanted to photograph, and that afternoon I began to do so.
