What an irony that the cruelest and most inhumane of Eddie's photos became his most famous. What an irony for someone whose remarkable body of work has one great connecting theme - the complexity and richness of human endeavor.

I thought Eddie was a great photographer and a great colleague - someone who enriched our lives with what he did and made this a country where we knew a little more about each other in both good days and bad, and were the better for it.
