In Kabul two girls walk to school but hide their faces because they are not allowed to have their pictures taken without permission from a male relative. Since the end of the Taliban regime, girls have been given the right to education. However, in rural Afghanistan most girls do not attend school and over 95 percent of the female population is illiterate.
