TRAIL OF TEARS At the New Orleans Convention Center downtown, refugees were being shuttled out of the city by helicopter to Louis Armstrong airport in Kenner. As people entered into the staging area, they were searched, processed and escorted to waiting Sea Stallions and Chinooks. The scene was harried and chaotic as the roar of the blades filled the air and the rotor wash sent debris and shelter tents flying. While most evacuees hugged and smiled and eagerly trotted to their flight to freedom, Louise Hagan broke into sobs. She didn't know where her husband was. He was still missing.
