Latafiya, Iraq, May 19, 2007 [Alpha Co. 2-15, Task Force 2-15, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division] – Medic Sgt. Joshua Delgado of Lompoc, Calif. (right, foreground) and other soldiers lift a wounded comrade onto a stretcher as they wait for a helicopter evacuation. The injured soldier was hit by shrapnel but was conscious and talking and is expected to survive. Three other soldiers were wounded and one U.S. sergeant was killed when a land mine or IED detonated under the dirt road on which they were patrolling. The soldiers were searching for the three American troops captured several days earlier.
