Kosovo Diary |
June 15, 1998 - Refugees
from Junik and Smolica in Serbia's Kosovo province make their way down
a mountain which separates Yugoslavia from Albania. About 350 people fled
over the hills while being chased by Yugoslav Army troops in helicopters.
Much of the world has been aghast as Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic's
Serb-led army and police cracked down on dissent in Kosovo, inhabited mostly
by ethnic Albanians. More than 300 people have been killed and thousands
have fled accross the border into northern Albania.
