Joe Montana

San Francisco, California, October 1991

This was taken for S.I.'s Living Legends series. The first time I went to San Francisco, he stood us up and called it off. The second time he was injured, and had time on his hands, but he wanted to leave before sunset. The problem was that the only time I wanted to shoot the pictures was after sunset, so I bought a six-pack of beer and tried to delay things. We had a Corona, and another Corona, and soon he's telling me all kinds of secrets about the team, more than I wanted to know. Then we went to shoot. He stayed until dark. Good old Joe.
