For starters I'm joined this year by my colleagues Dirck Halstead and Roger Richards. As some of you may remember we were the Platypus Workshop crew for several years, back together again for this years' NAB.
In addition, The Digital Journalist NAB 2013 Team is doing daily reports instead waiting until the show ends and having only one big report on the show. We felt this would be more relevant and make the readers not in Las Vegas feel they are here with us.
Our goal as always has been not to report on gear objectively, but subjectively what works for the Platypus documentarian and why we think it's cool or not. The three of us have definite opinions - at times we agree with each other and at times not. It's always good to get different points of view.
We'll also talk about Post Production World, the annual The Super Meet and whatever else pops up. What happens in Vegas...does not stay in Vegas for us! (Well, maybe some things always stay in Vegas. :)
Post Production World opens tomorrow and the exhibit hall opens Monday morning at 9am. We've got comfortable shoes, water, food and maps.
And I will continue my personal, now 5 year quest to see if some camera manufacturer finally puts a 5D full frame (at this point I'd take a APS or Super 35) type sensor in a simple unibody design like the Canon XF-305 or Sony EX-1R / PMW-200 for under $10,000. I feel like I'm in Lord of The Rings - it's been an epic journey.
