Refugee
Camp, Las Dhure, Somalia, 1981 - It was very early in the morning
with a mist in the air and Dr. Eric Avery was already treating young
and old suffering from dysentery, yellow fever and starvation. The
camp had been set up to house the thousands who arrived daily from
war-torn Ethiopia, walking for miles with whatever possessions they
could carry to get there. The chanting, the moaning, and the dying
never stopped. |
