Berlin Wall, 1989 - I happened to be in London on a completely different story when it was rumored that the Russians were going to take the wall down and make Berlin an open city, so I got on a plane. Upon arrival I could see that there was a lot of unrest in the city. Young and old alike, Berliners started banging away at the wall. The police didn't try very hard to stop them. The woman in the photograph told me she had lived with the wall all her life and hated it. "I hate it, I hate it," she kept repeating as she beat it with a stone.
