PIRNIK: For a while it seemed that everytime I hoped to capture the "Gates" fluttering in the wind, the breeze was simply too strong, causing them to flap around as opposed to the gentle billowing that I'd hoped for. I had stationed myself on the top of a stone bridge, camera glued to my eye for the better part of 20 minutes before I got the effect I was after, seen here.

"The Gates" project by artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude opened in Central Park on Saturday, February 12, 2005. The long awaited work consisted of over 7,500 gates that snaked through 23 miles of the parks walkways. In all, the installation was on view for 16 days, till February 27, 2005.
