Students begin to gather
on the commons of Kent State University to protest the involvement of the
United States in Vietnam and the National Guard on campus. Jeffrey
Miller is in the front row wearing a western shirt and a headband. He would
be killed by a guardsman’s bullet a few minutes later.

Major Jones hangs on the
side of a jeep as it drives past protestors on the Kent State University,
May 4, 1970, as one of the guardsmen announces to the students that "…you
must leave this area immediately…or we will disperse you." Major
Jones would later lead the group of guardsmen who opened fire on students,
killing 4 and wounding 9.
