The National Guard begin their ascent  up the commons of Kent State University to disperse protestors.

The oncoming march of the National Guard and tear gas canisters cause students to disperse the area around  the commons on the Kent State University campus on May 4, 1970.  Within a few minutes after the students are dispersed, the guardsmen would open fire on them, killing 4 and wounding 9.
