Berlin Wall, 1961 - On the day the wall started to go up, I got on the first flight from London to Berlin. On the plane coincidentally - and coincidence plays a large part in a photojournalist's life - was reporter Donald Edgar, who spoke perfect German. We managed to get distraught West German mayor Willy Brandt to ride with him to see firsthand the East German tanks and troops circling the city, while workmen put up barbed wire barricades and building the wall that came to symbolize the Cold War.
