Facade, Designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Bad Blumau, Styria, Austria: Throughout history spas have been a showcase for artists. Greeks made spas into centers where people went to dream. In Rome, frescoes were commissioned because the Romans recognized the soothing effects art can have on mind and body. In European courts patrons of musicians and artists saw the fruits of the labors of those they invited to create cultural events in spa towns. A famous Austrian painter and architect designed an entire spa with no straight lines which is a successful integration of art, architecture. Some have said that if you surrender to the creative atmosphere, you will feel a childlike joy.
