Bette Davis, Boating in Swimming Pool with Son, Michael, Beverly Hills, California, 1965
"The great Bette Davis was the most reluctant subject I can recall. This was a story I was determined to do. Her reluctance was understandable. She was at the end of a fabulous career, and was very sensitive about how she would look in still pictures. It took a full week for me to win her over, fortunately she finally relented and we became friends. Bette once said to me: "Take it from me, old age aint for sissies"
