Ruedi Hoffman, Avedon’s studio manager, and David Liittschwager worked a year and a half to print 123 negatives. The majority of the negatives were printed on 56x45 inch sheets of paper. Ten were printed to 78x64 inches sheets. The difficult and time-consuming process making these prints began in the basement of Avedon’s studio in New York.
