HIV/AIDS 1 - Love Life, Durban HarborAIDS is perhaps the single most serious threat facing post-apartheid South Africa, with almost 5 million people infected with HIV. The government has focused its efforts on educational campaigns, such as the "Love Life" campaign, and has been reluctant until just recently to provide state-assisted distribution of anti-retrovirals. Economically active people are the hardest hit, as are the poor, and the country now has to deal with a substantial number of orphans who will grow up without the stability of normal family life.
