Jimmy Doolittle, a lifelong resident of Gulfport, stayed at home during Katrina. It was his 27th birthday. After the storm he spent four days patrolling the neighborhood on foot to protect his neighbors from looters. He sits in his '68 VW Bug that had been underwater, but was later repaired, and is up and running again.
