Divnomoskoye, Russia.
1997
Young Cossacks are up
early in the morning for exercise at a summer camp in Divnomorskoye on
the Black Sea. The rest of their day is filled with paramilitary drills,
such as target practice with air rifles and policing the campground perimeter.
|
At the Divnomorskoye camp, the boys are up before dawn straightening up their spartanically furnished dorms. Summer camps like this one have filled the void left behind after the closing of most communist pioneer camps. |
