These were quiet days in Ramallah. The Arabs accepted the occupation docilely, more or less, and life went on as normal as one could expect. The interaction, or lack of it,  between the elderly Arab and the young vigilant soldier in Ramallah's main square is typical of the early occupation period. The soldier has an air of confidence; the Arab seems to portray contempt.
