Juan Vasquez and Leticia (Manor, 1989) - Juan Vasquez (1926-1999) showed off Lone Star Leticia, a Lhasa Apso dyed the colors of the Texas flag, at a street fair in Manor, Texas, in 1989. Vasquez, a native of McAllen, was a mason who worked on most of the buildings in downtown Austin, and some in Dallas and San Antonio. When he was young, he worked on the Alaskan railroads. He kept chickens and sheep in his yard in Manor; and in his garden he grew squash, corn, hot peppers, okra, tomatoes and watermelons.
