Dr. Ed Holland prepares the cornea for transplantation into Julia's eye. When he removes a flawed cornea and puts in a new one, a patient can go from seeing nothing to having excellent vision. On the flight to Cuba, he brought nine corneas harvested from Americans who had just died.
